About

Globber is a French scooter company, offering scooters for toddler, kids, teenager and adult. Globber scooters stand out in reliable, sleek and innovative design.

My role

The company in which I was working is the official distributor of the brand in Poland. We had to build the RWD website for the Globber brand based on the layouts (.psd) received from French company. Website creation was outsource to the other polish company. My role was to test the created website and check if it was created according to ours requirements.

What was the problem?

During the site’s testing stage, I found several problems related to the usability of the distributors search engine widget. I wasn’t satisfied with the functionality of the widget so I decided to propose some slight improvements. I knew that we cannot afford to make it perfect because my improvements assumed a larger scope of work than we had in agreement but I was determined to make this widget “not a total disaster”.

Usability review

I put myself in the role of an expert and I made a usability review. Which means I was using the product like the user will do. Pointing the places where user will get stuck or confused. Below I’m presenting my review with suggested solutions.

List of distributors: The user sees the map and a list of all distributors.

Problem statement:
The user don’t know where to do stationary shopping neither where he/she can make an online purchase.

Solution:

  1. Adding buttons:
    • NAWIGUJ – referring to the location in the Google Maps App
    • ZAKUPY ONLINE – referring to the online store website
The user can find the way to the nearest store (NAWIGUJ button) or make purchases through the online store (ZAKUPY ONLINE button).
  2. Additionally, the introduction of sorting distributors by city names in alphabetical order makes it easier to find the desired location on the list.

Distributor search: After typing the city name in the search engine, the results are filtered on the map and in the list.

Problem statement:
The user is unable to identify which of the stores on the list correspond to which place on the map.

Solution:

  1. After clicking on the pin on the map, the list shows information about the distributor from a given location.
  2. Addition of a new button: POWRÓT DO LISTY DYSTRYBUTORÓW.

No results screen: After typing the city name in the search engine, there are no distributors in the vicinity of the searched city.

Problem statement:

The user sees the information about the lack of results and stores located in the vicinity of Warsaw. The user is confused and don’t know what to do next, as a result he/she is abandoning further search.

Solution:

  1. Displaying a map of the whole country with pins of all stores.
  2. Addition of a new button: POWRÓT DO LISTY DYSTRYBUTORÓW.
